Especial brings back, a return to the source, heading to the sunset, the special lands and divergent scene of Bristol and the West Country. Melding the psychedelic with electronic, crossing the lay lines of this septic isle, the presence of the mothership, the grail that is Glastonbury and the triangulation of Free party endeavours from the fields around Bath to Frome and on to Castelmorton.

Up and coming, DJ, promoter and more recently producer, Chez De Milo has steadily built a sound, mixing cosmic and rhythmic soundscapes, hypnotic trance rituals and psychedelic world grooves across a limited number of EPs and remixes for the growing list of labels, garnering DJ and clubbing admiration.

Stepping up a level, Et Al showcases the best of this pulsating sound, growing in confidence and stature to deliver 4 tracks of equal strength. Title track Et Al starts with a trippy, driving bomb. Swirling, building, the tight repetitive Roland 808, Nord 3pm and Arp oscillations intertwin to create a dance floor beat boy dream.

Geiser takes this further, deeper, wider, global. Glimpsed in earlier cuts Bushwa (Futureboogie) and Durga Lesson (Ransom Note), here Chez reaches new shamanic heights. A funk electric, the snap kick, percussion, and twisted, looping vocals, lay the foundation, floating in a dark mix before the breaks and acid release deliver. Warped, cognitive, mind-bending club music.

Kremer brings it back, utlising classic, Egyptian folk samples, this updates the ethnic groove to today. The hypnotic, acid vortex is becoming a hallmark, gliding, elevating, a DJ tool and much more, updating the Afro-Cosmic anthems of Rimini to Cologne, to take its place on a new, parallel sphere.

Electro has long been a notable influence, brought forward on closing cut, Thus One. Razor sharp beats drive this basement jam. A fascinating riddim, the ‘Artificial Intelligence’ era vox bringing your mind(melt) back to centre ground, concentrating in mega-dosed moment, feet moving again, across concrete, wood or grass, the best is yet to come.
